- Building, maintaining, attending, or using campfires outside Forest Service structures prohibited
Exceptions
- Pressurized liquid petroleum or LPG fuels allowed in barren/cleared areas (3 feet clearance)
- Permit FS-7700-48 exemption
- Federal/State/Local officers and organized rescue/firefighting resources in official duty
Campground campfiresRestricted
Campfires allowed in designated developed campgrounds and fire structures.
Conditions
- Only in Forest Service-provided fire structures in designated areas
- Stove fires allowed in enclosed stoves with spark arrestor (¼ inch mesh, 5+ feet chimney) in barren/cleared areas (10 feet clearance)
Exceptions
- Pressurized liquid petroleum or LPG fuels allowed
- Permit FS-7700-48 exemption
- Federal/State/Local officers and organized rescue/firefighting resources
Propane fuel and camp stovesRestricted
Pressurized liquid petroleum and LPG stoves allowed with clearance requirements.
Conditions
- Device must be solely fueled by liquid petroleum or LPG
- Must be turnable on and off
- Area must be barren or cleared of all overhead and surrounding flammable materials within 3 feet of device
Exceptions
- Permit FS-7700-48 exemption
- Federal/State/Local officers and organized rescue/firefighting resources
Equipment and Work
Welding and grindingRestricted
Welding and torch work allowed with strict clearance and fire extinguisher requirements.
Conditions
- Cleared area of at least 10 feet in diameter required
- Chemical pressurized fire extinguisher (minimum 8 oz. capacity, Class 2A rating) must be kept with operator

- Permit FS-7700-48 exemption
- Federal/State/Local officers and organized rescue/firefighting resources
