Fire danger is high in the Pacific Ranger District. Campfires are prohibited in backcountry and dispersed areas. In developed recreation sites with a camp host, campfires are allowed only in existing fire rings, stoves, or charcoal grills. Propane stoves and lanterns are permitted with a California Campfire Permit or in developed sites. Always check the latest weather and specific site regulations before your trip.

  • Persons with valid California Campfire Permit may use portable propane campfire pit, stove, or lantern with shut-off valve in area at least 3 feet from flammable materials
  • Federal, State, local officers and organized rescue/fire-fighting forces in official duty

Campfires allowed only in existing stoves, charcoal grills, or fire rings at designated developed recreation sites with active camp host service.
