Fire danger is high around Bass Lake Ranger District. Campfires are prohibited in the backcountry, but allowed in designated campgrounds and picnic areas. Portable stoves with a shut-off valve are permitted with a California Campfire Permit. Welding and open-flame torches are prohibited. Always check current conditions and specific campground regulations before your visit.

Conditions

  • Prohibited outside designated recreation sites and wilderness areas
  • Allowed within Designated Wilderness Areas identified on Exhibit B (subject to elevation restrictions in order-2)

Exceptions

  • Persons with Forest Service Permit FS-7700-48
  • Persons with valid California Campfire Permit may use portable lantern or stove with fuel shut-off valve
  • Recreation residence owners with Special Use Permit

  • Only at designated recreation sites: Big Sandy, Jerseydale, Recreation Point Group, Chilkoot, Clover Meadow, Spring Cove, Soquel, Lower Chiquito, Summerdale, Forks, Lone Sequoia, Whisky Falls, Fresno Dome, Lupine, Cedar Bluff, Whiskers, Gaggs, Nelder Grove, Wishon Point, Greys Mountain, Granite Creek, and associated picnic sites
