Backcountry campfiresRestricted
Campfires prohibited above 10,400 ft (south) and 10,000 ft (north) in Ansel Adams and John Muir Wilderness; portable gas/fuel stoves allowed with valid permit.
Conditions
- Prohibition applies above elevation 10,400 feet south of Mt. Henry–Hot Springs Pass–western boundary line
- Prohibition applies above elevation 10,000 feet north of that boundary line
- Portable lantern or stove using gas, jellied petroleum, or pressurized liquid fuel permitted with valid Wilderness Permit or California Campfire Permit
Exceptions
- Federal, State, or local officers or organized rescue/firefighting personnel in official duty
- Persons with valid Wilderness Permit or California Campfire Permit may use portable gas/fuel stoves and lanterns
Propane fuel and camp stovesRestricted
Portable stoves using gas, jellied petroleum, or pressurized liquid fuel allowed in wilderness with valid permit.
