Fire danger is high in the Mountainair Ranger District. Campfires are prohibited in backcountry and dispersed camping areas. However, campfires are allowed in developed campgrounds and picnic areas with agency-built fire rings or grills. Fireworks and pyrotechnic devices are prohibited. Always check the latest weather and specific area restrictions before your trip.

- Must use permanent metal or concrete fire pit or grate installed and maintained by Forest Service

Conditions
- Must be solely fueled by liquid petroleum or LPG
- Must meet manufacturer's safety specifications
- Must have on/off switches
- Must be used in areas cleared of flammable materials within three feet

- Persons using a stove or grill that is solely fueled by liquid petroleum or liquid petroleum gas (LPG) fuels
