Backcountry campfires prohibited. Only approved liquid/gas stoves in cleared areas or enclosed metal stoves allowed.
Conditions
- Liquid or gas device must be turnable on/off and used in area barren/cleared of flammable materials within 3 feet
- Fully enclosed metal stove with 5+ ft chimney and ¼ inch mesh spark arrestor in area cleared of flammable materials within 10 feet
Exceptions
- Forest Service permit FS-7700-48 exempting from order
- Federal, state, local officers or organized rescue/firefighting force in official duty
Propane fuel and camp stovesRestricted
Propane and liquid/gas stoves allowed with strict clearance and equipment requirements.
Conditions
- Device must be turnable on and off
- Used in area barren or cleared of all flammable materials within 3 feet of device
Campground campfiresAllowed
Campfires allowed in Forest Service-installed metal or concrete fire rings at developed campgrounds and picnic areas.
Conditions
- Must be in permanent metal or concrete fire pit/grate installed and maintained by Forest Service at developed recreation sites

- Chemical pressurized fire extinguisher (minimum 8 oz capacity, Class 2A rating) must be kept with operator
