Campfires prohibited in Ansel Adams Wilderness above 10,400 ft south of Mt. Emerson-Humphreys ridge and in specific areas of Golden Trout Wilderness (Chicken Spring Lake, Rocky Basin Lakes). Portable gas/liquid fuel stoves allowed with valid wilderness permit.
Conditions
- Elevation-based restriction in Ansel Adams Wilderness (above 10,400 ft south of Mt. Emerson-Humphreys ridge)
- Specific area closures: Chicken Spring Lake (2/10 mile radius), Rocky Basin Lakes (2/10 mile radius)
- Portable gas, jellied petroleum, or pressurized liquid fuel stoves permitted with valid wilderness or campfire permit
Exceptions
- Persons with FS-7700-48 permit exempting them from order
- Federal, State, local officers or organized rescue/firefighting personnel in official duty
- Valid wilderness or campfire permit holders may use portable stoves/lanterns with gas, jellied petroleum, or pressurized liquid fuel
