Fire danger is very high in the Santa Barbara Ranger District. Campfires are allowed at designated sites like Fremont and Paradise, but wood and charcoal fires are prohibited in the front country Fire Use Restriction Area. Propane stoves are permitted with a valid California Campfire Permit. Target shooting is prohibited except at authorized ranges or for lawful hunting. Always check current conditions and specific site regulations before your trip.

Backcountry campfires prohibited forest-wide except at designated campfire use sites. Front country wood/charcoal campfires prohibited in Fire Use Restriction Area.
Exceptions
- Valid CA Campfire Permit holders may use portable lanterns or stoves with gas, jellied petroleum, or pressurized liquid fuel
- Federal/State/local officers and organized rescue/fire-fighting forces in official duty
