Backcountry campfires are allowed in wilderness areas with a valid California Campfire Permit, but are prohibited elsewhere in the backcountry. Campfires are permitted in developed campgrounds. - Allowed in Yolla Bolla-Middle Eel Wilderness, Chanchelulla Wilderness, Castle Crags Wilderness, and Trinity Alps Wilderness Areas
- Portable ring/pit/stove only: gas, kerosene, jellied petroleum, or pressurized liquid fuel with shut-off valve
- At least 5 feet from flammable materials
