Fire danger is high in the Weaverville Ranger District. Backcountry campfires are prohibited except at designated fire safe sites with a valid California Campfire Permit. Campfires are allowed in developed recreation sites. Portable stoves with pressurized liquid fuel are permitted with a valid permit, but fireworks, explosives, and welding torches are always prohibited. Check current conditions and permit requirements before your trip.

Conditions

  • Valid California Campfire Permit required
  • Only at designated Fire Safe Sites (WV-1 through WV-4)
  • Portable ring/pit/stove only: gas, kerosene, jellied petroleum, or pressurized liquid fuel with shut-off valve
  • At least 5 feet from flammable materials

  • Designated Fire Safe Sites with valid California Campfire Permit
