Backcountry campfires prohibited except in cleared areas with approved devices.
Conditions
- Device solely fueled by liquid or gas with on/off control in area barren or cleared of flammable materials within 3 feet
- Fully enclosed metal stove with chimney at least 5 feet and mesh screen spark arrestor (¼ inch or less) in area barren or cleared within 10 feet
Exceptions
- Forest Service Permit FS-7700-48 exempting from this order
- Federal, State, or Local Officers or organized rescue/firefighting service in official duty
Propane fuel and camp stovesRestricted
Propane and gas stoves allowed in cleared areas with shutoff capability.
Conditions
- Device solely fueled by liquid or gas that can be turned on and off
- Used in area barren or cleared of all flammable materials within 3 feet of device
Campground campfiresAllowed
Campground campfires allowed in permanent metal or concrete fire pits installed by Forest Service.
Conditions
- Only in permanent metal or concrete fire pit or grate installed and maintained by U.S. Forest Service at developed recreation sites
