Backcountry campfires prohibited except wood-burning stoves in Eagle Cap Wilderness with 5-ft chimney, ¼-inch mesh screen, and 3-ft cleared radius.
Conditions
- Wood-burning stove must have chimney at least 5-feet in length
- Spark arresting screen must be ¼-inch mesh hardware cloth
- All flammable vegetation within 3-foot radius must be cleared, including overhanging material
- Only in Eagle Cap Wilderness boundaries
Exceptions
- Wood-burning stove in Eagle Cap Wilderness with required equipment and clearance
- Within the boundaries of the Eagle Cap Wilderness
Campground campfiresRestricted
Campground campfires prohibited except camp stoves with 3-ft vegetation clearance.
Conditions
- Camp stoves fueled solely by liquid petroleum or liquefied petroleum gas
- Flammable vegetation cleared minimum 3-feet away from open flame on all sides
Exceptions
- Camp stoves fueled by LP/LPG with required clearance
- Within a designated campfire ring at a developed recreation site listed in Exhibit A
Propane fuel and camp stovesRestricted
Propane and LP gas stoves allowed with 3-foot vegetation clearance.
Conditions
- Fueled solely by liquid petroleum or liquefied petroleum gas
- Flammable vegetation cleared minimum 3-feet away from open flame on all sides
- Wood burning stove equipped with chimney at least 5-feet in length and ¼-inch mesh spark arresting screen
- All flammable vegetation within 3-foot radius cleared, including overhanging material
ExplosivesProhibited
Explosives and fireworks prohibited.
Exceptions
- Federal, State, or local officers in performance of official duty
- Persons with Forest Service Permit FS-7700-48
