Very high fire danger today.
Fire danger is very high in the Wenatchee River Ranger District. All campfires, wood, charcoal, and open flames are prohibited in both developed campgrounds and backcountry areas. Pressurized liquid gas stoves are allowed if used in cleared areas and have a functioning on-off valve. Some roads, trails, and campgrounds are closed due to the Little Giant Fire, so check current conditions and closures before your trip.

All wood, charcoal, and open flames prohibited in backcountry and dispersed camping areas.
Campground campfiresProhibited
All wood, charcoal, and open flames prohibited in developed campgrounds.
Propane fuel and camp stovesRestricted
Pressurized liquid gas stoves allowed if used in barren/cleared areas within 3 feet and have functioning on-off valve.
Conditions
- Used in areas barren or cleared of all overhead and surrounding flammable material within 3 feet
- Must have functioning on-off switch or valve to extinguish fire immediately
- Must meet fire underwriter's specifications for safety
ExplosivesProhibited
Use of explosives prohibited.
Target shootingProhibited
Firearm discharge prohibited except for lawful hunting with valid license.
Exceptions
- Persons with valid hunting license legally attempting to take game
Forest closures and access limitsProhibited
Chiwawa River Road (FS-6200) beyond Atkinson Flat, Phelps Creek Road (FS-6211), and multiple trails and campgrounds closed due to Little Giant Fire.
Conditions
- Closure applies to specified roads, trails, and developed campgrounds
- Effective July 23, 2026 through October 31, 2026

- Federal, State, or local officers in official duty
- Persons with Forest Service Permit FS-7700-48
