Gifford Pinchot National Forest Fire Danger & Restrictions

The Gifford Pinchot National Forest has two active fires: HIGH LAVA at 2,899 acres, discovered July 23 and 63% contained, and BACKBONE at 17 acres, discovered August 5 and 90% contained. Fire danger is very high across the forest, and all campfires are prohibited in backcountry areas and developed campgrounds. Check specific ranger district closures and confirm current restrictions before your trip.
