Manti-La Sal National Forest Fire Danger & Restrictions

Fire danger is high across much of the Manti-La Sal National Forest, with very high danger in the Moab and Monticello districts. Campfires are prohibited in backcountry areas forestwide, but allowed with conditions in developed campgrounds. Check specific ranger district rules before your trip, as portions of the Ferron Ranger District are closed due to the Black Canyon Fire through September 28, 2026. Propane and gas stoves are allowed with safety requirements, but welding, grinding, and explosives are prohibited.
